Germania Magna: Border in Flames is a game of shifting alliances for 2-4 players, which lasts for about 30-60 minutes. Each player assumes the role of a Germanic warlord leading raid into the Roman territories. The enemy is very powerful, so to win you need to forge alliances (however fragile) with other warlords, who will switch sides each time the tide of war changes.

At the very start of the game, Roman provinces open up for raiding. Then players draw cards and spend loot to recruit units. Later, those will be used and combined with tactics and strategy cards to attack Roman provinces – alone or as a part of a larger group, gaining loot and glory points. The game ends when at least six provinces have been looted. The winner is the player with the most glory points.
